Hello, Spring!

Hello friends and welcome! Two posts in one month?! Happy first day of Spring!

The 3 newest litters of babies continue to grow up into beautiful & confident little fellas, and they can’t wait to meet some new people friends (and maybe new rat friends, too!) – reservations are OPEN and almost all the boys are available! I’m really hoping we can get them all reserved before they’re 8 weeks so they can find their new families quickly! Most of the girls have been claimed but there are still two little girls looking for a new hammock, as well as some young adults.

Also at this time, I have some six month old dwarf males, as well as a variety of young adult standard size females available — all can be combo’ed with babies for a discount.

My fiance and I took down our single ferret nation that was housing some standard size adult males, and are in the process of introductions for BSS Buddy & Clyde and our own Dovedale & Argos. We hope they can learn to become fast friends and coexist together as a nice, happy quartet!

All 12 baby girls have integrated beautifully with aunt Audrey, and while Bonnie stayed with the baby girls, she may be ready for a break from them and be placed with my other standard size young adult females in an SCN for a few weeks, as she’s quite the bossy mama and still is dragging babies around – to many squeaks of protest, lol!

Coming up next for our schedule is a special litter — I’ll be celebrating my 3 year anniversary of breeding on April 8, and my very first litter was themed after Star Wars names. In honour and celebration of this achievement, our next litter will be due on May 4 (May the Fourth) and will be a second Star Wars theme, with new names and super adorable faces, I’m already sure of it! Parents will be WTCH Damsel x BSS Buddy Holly, to continue our very special house line– who can count their lineage all the way back to that very first litter of mine! As well as carrying on with the BSS pedigree.

With some assistance from my mentor and crowdsourcing, we’ve come to realize Mr. Buddy is teddy rex (aka velveteen rex), which is new for my rattery! I’ve never seen or worked with rex before receiving Buddy, he’s absolutely gorgeous and wonderful, and I’m thrilled to get to know the gene! Therefore, Damsel should give me a nice variety of standard, velveteen, rex, and teddy rex coats with her litter… I hope!

In about a month, we’ll also be welcoming PPUP Meatball (seen in this post’s featured picture), coming from my mentee Precious Pups Rattery – he’ll be part of a trade and we’ll be sending him STEL Rodger & STEL Gourdy in exchange, to help continue to rebuild his program!

After that, plans are tentative at best but we’ll likely pair BSS Marilyn x BSS Clyde, and then move onto the next generations of both lines. While I continue to downsize the amount of rats we keep, we hope to really reinforce and lock in fantastic temperaments and gorgeous looks both; as well as double down on establishing a stable and healthy dwarf program.

I’m also hoping to reinvigorate this website in the next few weeks — adding more info to new and existing pages, more pictures, more resources! I’d like this page to be informative and valuable to adopters and enthusiasts alike. And, of course, I’ll keep up on blog posts giving behind the scenes breakdowns every few weeks of what’s going on here at Stellar Rats 🙂

I can’t wait to dive into what 2026 is going to bring!
