Hello, Stellar fam, it’s time for an update!
For those of you who follow along with social media, today I made a post about the My Little Pony litter and some of the kits therein. Unfortunately, some of the kits seem to have microphthalmia, or tiny eye syndrome, as well as one of the kits being born with no eyes at all in her sockets.
In both kinds of cases, it’s a congenital defect, and for the tiny eyes doesn’t cause them any pain but it does mean their vision is even more limited than normal pink eyed rats and Sunburst & Diamond Tiara are likely to develop cloudy cataracts as they age.
It’s an unfortunate defect that has come to the front in the marten line and as a result, I’ll be discontinuing the marten line immediately. These will be the last babies from said line. Willow will be available to be reserved with a pair of daughters, or with her friend Dandy in a few weeks.
Sunburst will be available to reserve to the right person. Previous adopters or rat-savvy knowledgeable public will get priority. He’ll likely need minor additional medical care & observation as he ages. He will strictly be available with a same sex seeing eye sibling or half-sibling, and/or his father, Sunfyre and/or uncle Flint. Diamond Tiara & Scootaloo will be staying here permanently at the rattery as beloved pets for my son. They’ll have their own dedicated blind-safe cage with extra fall breaks, and be introduced to their tiny eyed older dwarf cousin, Socks, who’ll be their loving guide.
This is a devastating blow to myself as well as to my mentor, as the martens were her prized line she lovingly put years of work into before I inherited them. Please be kind and considerate with any messages or comments.
In other news, I’ll be doing temperaments testing and contacting those on my waitlist soon to choose their kits they’d like to reserve, both from the MLP litter and the younger HOTD litter; it’s a super exciting time and we are always excited to see which kits adopters choose to add to their family! These two litters will be available to go home starting 9 December onward. Onto what’s next…
Plans are underway for our last pairings for 2026; we hope to pair Luke x Padme, and WTCH McSir x Bix by the end of the month! We’re so incredibly hyped with these prospective pairings and are looking forward to amazing rexoid and satin lil’cow babies to help progress the Maryland x House blended line in a confident direction! I cannot wait to see what we get and cement further desirable foundations for my program for the future.
