It’s been a hot minute, and there has been a lot going on here at the rattery- with many changes and a lot of welcome surprises! Let’s go!
BSS Thelma & BSS Louise both gave birth to very health litters, for a total of 22 kits, both litters fathered by STL Bandit. Thrilled to announce that 9 kits are confirmed dwarfs, and we’re pleased as punch that there were a few siamese. Longtime goal unlocked! I’m holding back both dwarf siamese boys to be line-bred to their marten and siamese standard size/dwarf carrier cousins, in the interest of locking in a C-locus dwarf line. I’m also keeping the Russian blue boy and black self boy to lock down and herald in the next generation of Stellar dwarfs and I’m so excited for what’s down the line.
Two weeks ago, WTCH Damsel gave birth to her very special litter (sired by STL Dovedale) and also the last litter for 2025 here. Damsel, herself, is the daughter of my heart rat Ren, and Jen’s heart rat Peach, and Damsel is just the biggest squishy doll and a truly perfect rat. I have no doubt her children will be absolutely phenomenal temperaments and beautiful, big-boned conformations and types. While there was no aesthetic goal for this litter, Damsel gifted me 3 beautiful fawn kits, and I could not be happier as fawn is just so gorgeous and striking.
On that note, with the adoptions of Thelma & Louise’s litters underway, we’re winding down for the winter season here and looking ahead to goals and plans for 2026. I’ll share more about what I’ve got in mind in another blog post, but I’m looking forward to moving ahead with a renewed excitement and drive for my program.
