And just like that…

Plans change!

My beautiful rattery partner, Jen, has decided to shutter her rattery indefinitely, for personal reasons. To that end, I’ve taken in the rats she received from her mentor, Diana at Blue Stone Siamese Rattery in Maryland, to add to my program. My love to Jen and she always + forever has my support. Thanks to Diana for allowing me to pick up and continue her line in a broader capacity. For those following along, these are the direct siblings of BSS Thelma & BSS Louise here. All 8 are dwarf carriers, and several have rexoid fur of some variety or another.

Yesterday, we welcomed 6 new (& adorable!) faces to Stellar Rats and were ecstatic to say hello again to Haymitch, who had been on vacation at Bewitched with plans to be paired and honeymoon there until the summer, but those plans sadly fell through. Haymitch will instead rejoin his dwarf cousins, Vivi, and he’ll meet Todd for the first time in the next day or two. Eventually he’ll be paired with dwarf-carrier standard size female/s.

3 new bucks (Clyde, Buddy Holly, and Sammy Davis Jr- formerly Charlie Chaplin) and 3 does (Bonnie, Audrey Hepburn, and Marilyn Monroe) have joined my program, and I’ll be shuffling rats around and rearranging who is in which cages to accommodate them. It’s like playing a game of jenga; figuring out just which personality go best together– and who clashes. The new boys are large and squishy and so super sweet! The new girls are delightful and busy, with varying degrees of interest in me, hah– par for the course with girl rattos!

Additionally… BSS Bonnie is pregnant! She had been paired with WTCH Grimace for approximately 10 days prior to Jen making her decision to shutter, and we here at Stellar Rats are so excited to prepare for a third Valentine’s litter, in addition to STEL Hilda & STEL Lenna expecting. All three ladies are due starting February 9th and onward to potentially as late as the 20th.

Plans change, and we roll with them. Just keep swimming.

With the addition of the 6 new BSS rats to my program, I will no longer be pursuing a hairless derivative line. I am still making an effort to streamline my program, and will be keeping solely to the three lines I have for the foreseeable future.

Furthermore, I’ve removed a few potential breeders from my line-up, and they’ll be available publicly to strictly pet-homes only shortly.

On that note! My protege Mason is picking up Babs, Selina & Primrose this evening for his program and I’m so thrilled for their future with him!

I am currently working on revising my breeding schedule & plans for the first half of the year! I can’t wait to share them, and everything else we have in store for 2026.
