Summer Website Updates

Hey, rat fam! You may have noticed there are some new and blank or minimally filled out pages on this website – I’m in the process of updating and adding a metric tonne of information so this website might be a one stop shop of rat information and education!

But! It will take time. It’s a long-term summer project, and I’ll spend time when I have it working on updating portions of the site here and there. I’m not in a huge rush, I’m taking my sweet time, and not putting pressure on myself to get it done immediately (giving my ADHD some grace!)

My goal is by autumn to have a revamped site with a lot of useful information for adopters as well as those interested about learning rat genetics.

In regards to breeding! I have paired Audrey x Clyde, and Dandy x McSir, and I’m hoping they’ve both took, as I have a healthy handful of people on the waitlist, waiting very patiently for babies. But! As a reminder, I do not breed for profit and first and foremost I breed for myself and the betterment of my lines. Adopters are more than welcome to give me specifics on what they’re looking for (ear type or colour, for example) but I do not breed to order. My waitlist is what it is, and you’re welcome to be patient or look elsewhere.

However, to that end, I’m hoping to have one litter a month for the remainder of the year, if the rats want to cooperate, of course,…. — with a small gap to avoid having Christmas rats, as I do not home rats as Christmas gifts, and generally close up for a sort-of break for the month of December, so I can enjoy the holidays with my family.

Let’s not think winter thoughts too soon, haha… I’m so excited for several litters coming up, including some test breeding for certain rats to determine their genetics:

My sweet darling Sunfyre, for example, is a very interesting rat and I’m thrilled to linebreed him to Willow for more martens to continue my mentors line and continue the hunt for the elusive dragon eye; as well as capping out the year by pairing him to Dandy to prove his being silvermane, and create some solid black silvermane babies, which should be absolutely striking.

As well, I’ll be test breeding Padme x Luke (let the star wars fan-boys cry in their cereal at that pairing lol). I want to confirm their rexoid coats, if they’re just velveteen, or have some rex in there as well… The best way to do that is to pair them together and let their linebreeding suss out any doubles of genetics — if I get ultra fluffy little lambs, we’ll call that double velveteen. If I get naked weird things with super kinky whiskers, that’s double rex.

I believe that’s about it for now; thank you so much for reading and continuing to support Stellar Rats <3
